General & Family Dentistry

General and family dentistry encompasses a broad range of dental treatments, from routine preventive care to more complex procedures to restore your oral health. When you visit our office, one of our experienced dentists will examine your mouth and discuss your oral health and treatment options with you so you can make a fully informed decision regarding your care. Our ultimate goal is to help you achieve and maintain excellent oral health in Oklahoma City, OK, along with a beautiful smile that you can feel confident in sharing with others.

Night Guards

Night guards are a type of custom-made oral appliance. This type of mouthguard is typically recommended to manage bruxism, or chronic teeth grinding and clenching. Your night guard will be specially designed to fit comfortably, and, once in place, will work to prevent your upper and lower dental arches from touching, dispersing the pressure that would otherwise lead to broken, chipped, fractured, or flattened teeth. Night guards are an excellent solution when it comes to keeping your smile healthy, and our dentists will work closely with you to ensure that your night guard meets your needs.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Like all forms of cancer, oral cancer can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated promptly. However, oral cancer is also among the most treatable forms of cancer when it is diagnosed early. We recommend that you receive an oral cancer screening from our dentists and team regularly to ensure that this disease is detected and treated as early as possible.

Special Needs Patients

Special needs dentistry is designed to help patients who face physical, mental, or other challenges enjoy good oral health. The goal of this type of care is to help special needs patients receive individual, high-quality care in a compassionate and comfortable environment where they feel safe. Our experienced dentists will work with both the patient and the primary caregiver to create personalized treatment plans which meet the patient’s needs as well as accommodate their ability to tolerate treatment. We will take the time to explain procedures, answer questions, address any concerns, and ensure that the patient is at ease. We will take special care to modify treatments and treatment plans to accommodate specific situations and needs so that each patient can receive the care they deserve.

TMJ Treatment

The TMJ, or temporomandibular joint, is the joint connecting your lower jaw to your head. The term “TMJ” is used to refer to TMJ disorders, or TMD, a condition which develops when this joint becomes misaligned, stressed, or injured in some way. There are several factors which contribute to TMJ disorders, including stress, teeth grinding and clenching, arthritis in the jaw joint, and trauma or injury to the head, neck, and jaw.

Common signs of TMJ disorders include:

  • Grinding, clicking, or popping sounds when moving your jaw
  • An inability to open your mouth widely to eat, speak, or yawn
  • A locked or “stuck” jaw
  • Pain when chewing and biting
  • Pain in your neck, shoulders, jaw, or ears
  • Frequent headaches

TMJ Treatment Options

During your initial consultation, our dentists will evaluate your mouth and jaw to determine the cause of your TMJ disorder. We can then create a treatment plan to help manage the disease properly. The treatment you receive will depend on the cause and severity of the disorder. Common TMJ treatments include night guards, jaw and facial relaxation exercises, lifestyle changes, restorative dental treatments, and jaw surgery.

Tooth Extractions

While our goal is to help you avoid an extraction through preventive care, some conditions may make one necessary. These conditions include:

  • Significant tooth decay that has damaged the tooth beyond the point where it cannot be successfully restored.
  • Severe infection has destroyed a significant portion of the tooth and its supporting bone structure.
  • Overcrowding prevents your teeth from fitting in your mouth correctly

Our dentists provide tooth extractions to remove damaged teeth from your mouth and begin the process of restoring your oral health and smile. We will work closely with you throughout your entire treatment to determine if a tooth should be removed, gently extract it, and find the proper replacement for your smile.
